Have you ever squeezed toothpaste out of a tube?  In church??  This children’s sermon, given by a visiting pastor, began with the children taking turns squeezing toothpaste out of a tube, until it was nearly all gone.

Then the pastor asked for a volunteer to begin putting the toothpaste back in.  Of course, a couple of children tried.

She told the children that our words are like toothpaste:  easy to say, but hard to take back.  When we say something mean to someone, then follow it with, “Oh, I’m sorry”, it doesn’t really fix the problem.  The other person’s feelings are still hurt.  She said, think carefully before you say something — don’t say it if it might be hurtful.
